Saint Laurent drops the Yves in branding
by Megan Meagher
Yves Saint Laurent is dropping the Yves in the name and logo of its ready-to-wear line. The brand claims the change comes from a desire to harken back to an earlier period in the company, in the 1960s when the logo was simpler and more straightforward. Despite the fact that the change doesn't affect the company's fashion or beauty lines, fans of the brand are outraged at changing such an iconic logo. Facebook fans responded to the new logo with comments such as "Where's the iconography? This is not iconic" and "YSL without the Y is not YSL."
