GE creates living masterpieces

by Megan Meagher

GE demonstrated their commitment to helping reduce the National Gallery's carbon footprint by creating the world's first "living masterpiece." Van Gogh's "A Wheatfield, With Cypresses" was recreated using 8,000 plants which took 4 months to grow into the masterpiece.

The 22-meter landscape was displayed in Trafalgar Square outside the National Gallery. The brand followed up with a photomosaic online which recreated the painting out of user-submitted photos. Those who tweeted #GELivingpainting were added to the wall.
