To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first Landsat launch, NASA has released 120 digitally colored images picked up by the roaming satellite in their first ever ‘Earth as Art’ contest. The featured photo of the Swedish Island of Gotland took home  top honors, its turquoise and blue phytoplankton blooms were dubbed ‘Van Gogh’ for their likeness to the famous Starry Night painting.
